Coppice Management for Young Sycamore Maple (Acer pseudoplatanus L.)

چکیده

Sycamore is a valuable tree not only economically but also ecological and culturally. Even though it has vigorous regeneration system from its stump, coppice management triggered limited formal investigations. Therefore, the present study focused on finding most suitable strategy for achieving ground coverage biomass, as well developing growth yield models sycamore maples. Using series of eight measurements spanning twenty-one years, starting age six, we found that single-shoot coppices provided superior yields height than seed-managed trees up to twelve twenty DBH. The outperformed seed 10. DBH single-shoots were described by parsimonious formulations, namely Schumacher model square root height. relationship DBH–height exhibited clear linear form, pointing toward main limitation study, confinement ages less 20 years. Nevertheless, all bias <10−7 an R2 around 80%, except change throughout time, which was 67%.

Laccase from Sycamore Maple (Acer pseudoplatanus) Polymerizes Monolignols.

Current understanding of the final oxidative steps leading to lignin deposition in trees and other higher plants is limited with respect to what enzymes are involved, where they are localized, how they are transported, and what factors regulate them. With the use of cell suspension cultures of sycamore maple (Acer pseudoplatanus), an in-depth study of laccase, one of the oxidative enzymes possi...

Nucleotide sequence of a cDNA clone encoding an acidic laccase from sycamore maple (Acer pseudoplatanus L.).

Laccases (p-diphenol:O, oxidoreductase, EC 1.1 0.3.2) are m,embers of a highly conserved class of metalloenzymes, the ”blue” copper oxidases, which includes ascorbate oxidase and ceruloplasmin (Rydén and Hunt, 1993). First identified more than 100 years ago in extracts of sap from the Japanese lacquer tree (Rhus vernicifera), laccases have since been identified in fungi, insects, higher plants,...

Effect of gibberellic acid on germination capacity and emergence rate of Sycamore maple (Acer pseudoplatanus L.) seeds

Seedlots of sycamore maple (Acer pseudoplatanus L.) originating from three different provenance regions were collected in autumn 2012. The seed quality, namely vitality and germination rate, was assessed according to Czech conventions. There were four replications within each seedlot, i.e. twelve treatments altogether for each experimental variant. The effect of gibberellic acid on germination ...

Protein Phosphorylation in Amyloplasts Isolated from Suspension-Cultured Cells of Sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus L.).

Highly purified amyloplasts were isolated from cultured cells of sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus L.). Incubation of amyloplasts with [gamma-(32)P]-ATP resulted in the labeling of more than ten polypeptides. Pulsechase experiments showed the reversibility of the process with some but not all of the polypeptides. The phosphorylation reaction of one polypeptide, M(r) 100, was shown to be calcium dep...

Excretion of laccase by sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus L.) cells. Purification and properties of the enzyme.

A laccase-type polyphenol oxidase is excreted by sycamore cells (Acer pseudoplatanus L.) cells. The enzyme has been purified by classical purification techniques. It is a blue copper protein of Mr 97 000, containing 45% carbohydrate and 0.24% copper. This protein consists of one single unit and the copper content corresponds to four copper atoms per protein molecule. The specific activity of th...
